What’s changing in housing?
In September 2025, the government announced that the ne w Competence and Conduct Standard will come into force i n October 2026 , with a three-year transition period for large housing providers.
This landmark move sets a clear expectation - housing professionals must demonstrate the skills, behaviours, and ethical standards needed to serve tenants with confidence and care. When you’re juggling compliance, customer expectations, and constant change, you need teams who are confident, capable, and clear on what good looks like. That’s exactly what the Competence and Conduct Standard is about - raising the bar across the board.
For housing providers, this means:
-
Investing in staff development
-
Demonstrating professional competence
-
Embedding a culture of continuous improvement
