The Learning Foundry & Inside Connections: Building A Better Future

The Learning Foundry works with many fantastic organisations and companies that share our ethos in the continued development of young people across the North West.

One of our newest partnerships is with Inside Connections, who we are delighted to be working with to provide a first-grade construction traineeship that aims to help young people learn the skills to be a success in the construction sector.

Inside Connections was formed in 2017, to provide support and access to training that can help empower individuals to change their lives through sustainable employment. They are committed to supporting people and attracting partners who can make positive changes to lives, families, and the community.

Some of the courses they provide are open to individuals with experience of the Criminal Justice System and are either currently serving in a category D establishment or have been released from custody.

They also work with young people who need positive intervention, those in or exiting care and ex-service personnel. Everyone who uses Inside Connections services are provided with one-on-one mentoring support to ensure the greatest opportunity for success.

“It was only by joining the Inside Connections training scheme while in prison that I was able to change my life and get ready for a new one once released. If I never had the training I would have been back into crime or else self-harming or even worse.”

“Inside Connections gave me the opportunity to integrate back into my community. It has also helped me empower individuals in similar positions to myself and before release and help them sustain a productive life work and family without reoffending.”

Together, The Learning Foundry and Inside Connections aim to create a new workforce of trained construction workers that will help the growth of the Liverpool City Region and in return provide a possible career to many young people who are looking to find full time employment and a career in the construction sector.

Over the course of our joint 16-week employment programme, learners will meet industry guest speakers and complete work placements at big name employers including Laing O'Rourke, Eleven11 and Warwick Development.

During their time on the programme, learners will also complete certificates in:

  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Manual Handling
  • First Aid
  • Health and Safety in Construction
  • Mental Health First Aid in Construction

At the end of the course, leaners will finish with a CSCS card as well as being guaranteed a job interview that can help secure employment and launch careers.

Both the Learning Foundry and Inside Connections share the belief that everyone, no matter what their background may be, deserves the right to educate and better themselves.

We are also aware that some individuals need that extra bit of support and guidance to help them reach their potential, which is why we are excited to be bringing this traineeship to anyone who could truly benefit from the 16 weeks.

As with our other courses we provide to young people, we hope that the prospect of education and employment can help individuals improve their circumstances, turn away from routes into crime, and create a positive future for themselves. This is turn will help our city and surrounding regions to prosper and provide better support to future generations.

We're pleased to say that another construction course will be coming in the next few months! If you'd like to be the first to know then get in touch and we'll add you to the waiting list. You can give us a call on 0300 123 8088 or email info@thelearningfoundry.co.uk
