What job roles are available?  

There are 100 Games Tester jobs available at Universally speaking!  

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Worked in shifts during periods between 7.30am and 1am
  • National Minimum Wage, with potential to earn more working on language translation projects. 

The official job title is QA Games Tester which stands for Quality Assurance Games Tester.  These are temporary job roles between 1st June and October – with potential to continue for longer. 

The role involves: 

  • Making sure games and applications give the best user experience by being bug free 

  • Learning to follow the Universally Speaking Quality Assurance process and professional standards (which are the best in the industry!) 

  • Using a variety of standard bug databases to write detailed bug reports  

  • Reporting issues and bug fixing 

  • Owning, managing and executing testing games. This includes document testing practises, QA process & reporting method. .  

 

What training will I receive? 

Before a job interview with Universally Speaking, all applicants will receive 10 days of free training and development.  

We do this because we want to make sure you’re the strongest candidate you can be before meeting the employer!  
You will complete the following over 10 days: 

  • Level 1 Occupational Studies  

  • Time Management 

  • Teamwork 

  • Maintenance of safe and secure working environment 

  • SMART Report writing  

  • Project Lifecycle Methodology  

  • Interview Skills and Employability 

  • Employer Visit

Who is this for?

Is previous experience required? 

Previous experience is not required – this is an entry level role and full training will be provided.  

You are a great match if you: 

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills in English 

  • Are passionate about video games 

  • Are quick learning and adaptable 

  • Have a focus on quality and a keen eye for detail 

  • Have an inquisitive mind 

  • Are a team player, with the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines 

  • Are pro-active, tenacious, and enthusiastic 

  • Are good with computers – word processing, database handling, record keeping, good working knowledge of MS Office Suit 

  • Are familiar with varied systems and hardware, from PC to console to mobiles 

  • Are reliable and consistent 

  • Have the Right to Work in the UK 

 
It’s really useful if you have done some of the following but if not, we can teach you: 

  • Management and execution of automated tests 

  • Used version control software, issue task tracking or project management tools 

  • Been part of games development projects or jams in the past and know something about development engines 

  • Experience in using Jira
