Level 2 Early Years Practitioner

Duration

12-18 months (Learners will then complete an end of programme assessment to achieve their apprenticeship)


Who is it for

This qualification is ideal for those working in an entry level role or are new to the early years or childcare sector, who work and interact directly with children on a day to day basis supporting the planning of and delivery of activities.


Entry requirements

To undertake this programme, learners must be working in a childcare setting. They must hold five GCSE’s (grade A* - E / 9-3) or achieve Level 1 in English and Maths during initial assessment or already hold functional skills in Maths and English.


Qualification

Learners will achieve Early Years Practitioner level 2


Progression route

This qualification allows learners to progress into higher level roles to work in a childcare environment with limited supervision, as well the opportunity to gain Early Years Educator Level 3.

Level 3 Early years Educator

Duration

18-20 months (Learners will then complete an end of programme assessment to achieve their apprenticeship)


Who is it for?

For individuals working in childcare who would like to further their career and move into a senior role within the sector. You should have experience of working with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and be a key worker, responsible for observing and assessing children.

 

How it’s delivered:      

•  A series of workshops (delivered monthly online)

•  Monthly one to one remote or workplace visits.


Qualification

Learners will achieve Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator) and will also obtain a mandatory qualification in Paediatric First Aid. 


Progression route

This qualification allows learners to progress to more senior management roles in the childcare sector with the potential to undertake further management training.

To undertake this programme, learners must  be working in a childcare setting in a key worker role. They must hold five GCSE’s (grade A* - C / 9-4), achieve Level 2 in English and Maths during initial assessment or already hold Functional Skill level 2 in Maths and English.

Level 2 Playworker

Duration

18 months

Delivery

This programme will be delivered on-site in your workplace with sessions and coaching called delivered either online or in our campus at The Learning Foundry — wherever is most convenient for the apprentice and their employer.

Who is it for?

This qualification is ideal for those working in an entry level role or new to the early years or childcare sector, including soft play or afterschool clubs. Apprentices will work and interact directly with children and make a significant contribution to supporting play. This occupation is found in a range of private and public settings including; full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes, playgroups, nursery schools and home-based provision.

Entry requirements

To undertake this programme, learners must be working in a playwork setting. They must hold five GCSE’s (grade A* - E / 9-3) or achieve Level 1 in English and Maths during initial assessment.

What will you learn?

Apprentices will cover key areas including:

  • Playwork principles and the play environment,

  • Relationships in the play environment,

  • Reflective playwork practice, 

  • Contribute to the health, safety and welfare of children in the play environment.

Qualification

Learners will achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Playwork.

Progression route

Our Playworker Apprentices are equipped to progress in the childcare sector. Typical job roles for apprentices graduating in this area include:

  • Engagement worker 
  • Inclusion/support playworker 
  • Playground assistant
  • Playworker​

They can access further development opportunities such as the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Who is it for?

This qualification is designed for aspiring teaching assistants in primary, secondary, special schools, alternative provision, and further education institutions with an ability to  support all learners.

Teaching Assistants will support the class teacher to enhance learners’ progress and development, ensuring that learners understand their work, know their learning objectives, and display positive learning behaviours to make progress.
