Providing a wraparound support service in the Liverpool City Region: The Learning Foundry’s partnership with Thrive Careers Hub

At The Learning Foundry, we’re proud to be more than a college, and more than your average training provider, too. Part of our service is helping to provide comprehensive support to people in our local area, and to do that we need to work in partnership. We’ve been working with Thrive Careers Hub for over two years, supporting local people on their journey into meaningful and sustainable employment.

Lilly is one young person who has benefitted from our partnership. Through Universal Credit, she found a role as Front of House at Thrive, and The Learning Foundry helped boost her skill set to thrive in her role.

We caught up with Lilly to talk about her journey with us:

“I found the role as Front of House at Thrive through Universal Credit – but I needed some training first.

“The Learning Foundry were offering their Food Safety and Hospitality course which included Barista training – which would give me exactly what I needed.

“Of course hospitality is a huge industry, with so many opportunities, so it’s great to have that official training that’s transferable for any position I might want to go for in the future.

“The course itself was really good. My coach was really supportive. The group of learners were lovely – I learnt a lot from them and made a lot of friends!

“While the course itself was so useful, it helped me to boost my confidence, gave me structure and real-life work experience. The course was run from a functioning coffee shop, not from a classroom, and I really enjoyed learning on site.

“It didn’t feel like learning at college. Everyone at The Learning Foundry treated me like a colleague, not a child, but still offered really good support.

I would definitely recommend The Learning Foundry. They have so much on offer, and there really are no drawbacks to learning – just say yes!”

Hannah, Partnerships Manager at Thrive, says:

“Thrive have worked with The Learning Foundry, and with the wider Regenda Group, for over two years now, working to provide local people with support with services in housing, education and employment.

“The Learning Foundry are always willing to help with our educational drop in mornings. It’s all about coming together to provide a wraparound support service for people across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.

“Together we can signpost people and catapult them into work or training. It’s about being able to put the right people in front of them, whether that’s an employer or a training provider – like The Learning Foundry.

“Lilly is a brilliant example of the success of our partnership. She’s an excellent addition to the Thrive team, getting stuck in with all sorts, she’s monitoring our social media channels at the moment!

“When someone thinking about training can come into a safe place, like Thrive, and meet someone from The Learning Foundry, we’re able to remove any nerves or anxiety about reaching out to another support service.

“Together we are more successful in removing any barriers to training and meaningful work.”

And now, THAT, is the power of partnership. We’re proud to provide a valuable part of the support service for people seeking education, employment or training in the Liverpool City Region.
