Supporting Neurodiversity at The Learning Foundry
It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week - a worldwide initiative that challenges the stereotypes and misconceptions around neurodiversity while celebrating the unique minds of neurodivergent individuals.
At The Learning Foundry, we know that everyone learns in their own way, and that’s a good thing!
Neurodiversity recognises that people think, process information, and experience the world differently. This includes learners who are autistic, have ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or simply learn in a way that doesn’t fit the traditional classroom style. These differences aren’t barriers, they’re strengths that shape how people solve problems, communicate, and create.
We support neurodiversity and believe no one should be left behind when it comes to their personal and professional development. We’re proud to support all kinds of minds, and we want every learner to feel confident, understood, and valued from day one.
A place where you can be yourself
Starting something new can feel exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve had mixed experiences in education before. That’s why we take time to get to know you as a person, not just a learner.
- When you join The Learning Foundry, we’ll chat with you about:
- What helps you feel comfortable
- How you like to learn
- What you enjoy and what you find challenging
- Any support you’ve had before, and what actually worked
There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to learn here. Whether you prefer hands‑on tasks, visual instructions, quiet spaces, or regular check‑ins, we’ll work with you to make sure you can learn in a way that suits you!
Support that works for you
Every learner is different, so we offer a wide range of practical support options. These small adjustments can make a big difference to how confident and in control you feel.
Some of the support we offer includes:
- Breaking work into smaller, manageable steps
- Giving instructions in different ways (like visuals or checklists)
- Offering quiet spaces to take a break or rest
- Using apps and digital tools to stay organised
- Allowing flexible ways to complete tasks or show your skills
These approaches aren’t about giving you an advantage - they’re about removing barriers so you can show your true potential. These small changes can make learning feel easier and more enjoyable.
Cognitive learning assessment
At The Learning Foundry, we use a cognitive learning assessment, called Cognassist, for every learner to identify individual their learning needs. It’s all part of our mission to make talent shine - because we’re committed to providing every person with the right support.
Helping you build confidence
Sometimes a little extra guidance can make a big difference - helping you stay focused, organised, and motivated. We use prompts, things like reminders, visual cues, or simple questions, to help with organisation, staying on track, or understanding what to do next.
Over time, you’ll learn your own strategies and build confidence in working independently. Our aim is to help you feel capable, not overwhelmed, and to support you in developing skills you can use in work, education, and everyday life.
We work together
You’re never on your own at The Learning Foundry!
We listen to you, support you, and work closely with you to understand what you need and how we can help you thrive. When it’s helpful, we also talk with your families, employers, and support workers, so everyone understands how to support your progress. Our in‑house Learning Support team is available throughout your journey. They use a variety of different styles and approaches until we find what works best for you.
Everyone belongs
Most importantly, The Learning Foundry is a place where you can be yourself. Your strengths, creativity, and individuality make our community better!
We celebrate neurodiversity every day because the world needs all kinds of thinkers - problem‑solvers, creators, innovators, and people who see things differently.
When you join us, you’re not just starting a course. You’re joining a community that values who you are and who you’re becoming.
