- Employer-led programmes designed to lead to jobs.
- Creating opportunities for people aged 16+ across the North West.
- More than 35 years’ experience delivering industry-led training.
Building the future workforce
The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) predicts an additional 251,500 construction workers will be needed by 2028 to build new homes. An additional 23,850 new workers will be needed in the North West alone.
Our Construction Skills Centre is designed to give local people the skills needed to step into the roles of the future. There's a skills gap and we want to help you fill it!

Our programmes
We offer built environment training programmes for people aged 16+ across the North West, including apprenticeships, adult learning and programmes for school leavers.
Property Maintenance Operative (Apprenticeship)
Property Maintenance Operative
- Level 2
- 24 months
Property Maintenance Operatives work in construction and the built environment sector. They ensure buildings are kept in good repairs and in a safe working condition.
Their skills are needed across a whole range of industries including housing, healthcare, social care, hospitality, education, commercial, leisure, retail, and private and public sectors.
It’s an important job - ensuring work that is carried out is compliant with health and safety requirements and meets building safety regulations and legislation.
Typical job roles include:
- Maintenance assistant
- Maintenance technician
- Multi-skilled technician
- Property technician
- Multi-skilled trade operative
- Property maintenance operative
- Building maintenance technician

Adult Skills Programmes
We offer a range of flexible, short learning programmes for adults including a range of options in construction and the built environment.
These programmes are funded by the Adult Skills Fund and are open to people who are employed and unemployed.
Options include:

Build Your Future (Construction Study Programme)
Want to kickstart a career in construction? Not sure where to begin? Build Your Future is the perfect starting point if you are ready to get stuck in, gain real qualifications, and step confidently into the world of work.
Who's it for?
- For 16 to 18 year olds not currently in education, employment, or training
- Or aged 19 and over with an Education Health and Care Plan, and not currently in education, employment, or training
- School leavers who want to build confidence and explore career options
- Young people looking for a fresh start and a clear path forward
- Living within the Liverpool City Region
- Resident of the UK for the last 3 years
What you'll achieve
This practical, work-ready programme gives you everything you need to start your journey in construction:
- Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
Learn how to stay safe on site and understand your responsibilities—essential for anyone working in construction. - Get a labourer's CSCS Green Card
We’ll help you prepare for and pass the CSCS test, so you can legally work on most UK construction sites. - Level 1 Certificate in Construction Skills
Get hands-on experience in a range of trades like bricklaying, carpentry, painting & decorating, and more. - Two weeks of industry work experience
Put your skills to the test in a real working environment. Gain confidence, build your CV, and make valuable industry connections. - English and Maths
Based on your current level, you’ll work towards a nationally recognised English and/or Maths qualification—key for any job or apprenticeship.

What can you do next?
After completing Build Your Future, you’ll be ready to:
- Start working as a site labourer or construction operative
