The Learning Foundry helped me achieve my goals: Faris’ story

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we want to celebrate some of the successes of our apprentices here at The Learning Foundry. So with that, introducing The Learning Foundry’s newest apprentice, Faris.

Faris joined The Learning Foundry after finishing sixth form this summer. Since then, Faris completed our Picture Your Future study programme, and has recently started his Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.

We caught up with Faris to talk about his new role...

“When I got to The Learning Foundry I just didn’t know what I wanted to do. I finished sixth form and was stuck...

“I chose TLF because it felt like such a social place to be from day one. And I suppose that has kept me here for so long!

“Unlike in school, the smaller (and really friendly group) meant that I could concentrate better. I loved having a 1-2-1 tutor, too.

“Feeling so stuck with what I wanted to do was a big barrier for me. But The Learning Foundry helped me set myself goals – and now I’m achieving them.

“I learnt so much with The Learning Foundry, skills that are directly linked to the working world – but taught in a really fun way! Teamwork, communication...

“I love not being stuck in a classroom. As an apprentice, I always have things to do and things to learn. You get the security of being in education whilst being able to complete practical learning.

“The Learning Foundry is unique – and effective. If you’re unsure about what you’re looking to do – come to The Learning Foundry. They will help you explore pathways to new skills.

“It all felt too good to be true!”

Faris’ Development Coach, Teresa, has supported him throughout his time with The Learning Foundry.

“Faris has shown determination and dedication to his studies, totally committed. He got stuck in with all activities and was an active part of our fundraising activities for Alder Hey and Macmillan.

“It’s been great to see Faris achieve, he was always a popular and respected member of his group – so supportive of everyone – so it’s great to see him thrive in his new role.”

Congratulations, Faris! We can’t wait to see what he goes on to achieve.
