Liverpool-based training provider The Learning Foundry is set to bring hundreds of new opportunities to young people in the Liverpool City Region after winning a tender worth over £1,000,000.
The £1,004,000 grant from the Education and Skills Funding Agency will see dynamic new traineeship programmes delivered for 19-24 year olds across the City Region and the North West, with direct routes into apprenticeships and employment.
Scoring maximum points out of a possible 500, the ESFA’s awarding report commending The Learning Foundry for strong relationships with local businesses, “unrivalled” connections with key employers, and a commitment to helping young people develop confidence and motivation.
Traineeships are designed to give learners the skills and experience they’ll need to progress to a positive destination, whether an apprenticeship or employment. Learners will develop employability skills such as CV writing and interview techniques, vocational skills in sector-specific areas, and functional skills in English and Maths, before beginning high quality on-the-job training.
The Learning Foundry is working with trusted local employers to identify work experience placements, as well as encouraging employers to explore initiatives such as the Kickstart Scheme and apprenticeships to secure routes into successful careers for trainees. The new contract comes as The Learning Foundry continues to work with high profile partners such as Liverpool FC Foundation and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to develop dynamic traineeships for 16-18 year olds, with nearly 75% of traineeship learners progressing to a positive destination.
Joanne Abraham, Managing Director of The Learning Foundry, said “With our track record of successful delivery for 16-18 traineeships, we are excited that the ESFA has noted our ability to make talent shine and awarded us this contract. 19-24 traineeships are a fantastic concept and offer direct routes into employment, which is critical for young people in our region right now, as one of the groups most economically damaged by the pandemic. Almost 75% of our 16-18 year old trainees progress to a positive destination, and we’re excited to extend these opportunities and make talent shine for 19-24 year olds”.
The new traineeships will launch imminently.
